Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens adapts the events of the seventh Star Wars film while adding original content that bridges the gap between the original trilogy and the sequel era. Players follow characters such as Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Han Solo, and Kylo Ren through a lighthearted retelling of the story, complete with LEGO-style humor and comedic cutscenes. Familiar locations, vehicles, and iconic moments are recreated with a playful tone that makes the adventure approachable for players of all ages.

Gameplay combines action, platforming, puzzle-solving, and collectible hunting across story missions and optional stages.
